The bosses at "American Idol" have kept fans guessing all summer as a parade of names from Elton John to Justin Timberlake, Harry Connick Jr. to Usher, former judge Paula Abdul to returning executive producer Nigel Lythgoe have popped up as potential replacements for departed judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.
All that speculation will finally be put to rest at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday (September 22) when "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest will preside over the official announcement of the new judging panel during a live webcast on Ustream. Fans can watch the big reveal at www.americanidol.com.
According to a press release announcing the event, shortly after Seacrest reads the names the new judges will appear in a press conference. The webcast will also be available at www.facebook.com/americanidol and www.ustream.com/american-idol.
While no official word has been given yet about what the new panel will look like for the upcoming 10th season of the reality singing competition, multiple outlets have reported that lone remaining original judge Randy Jackson will be joined by Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and actress/singer Jennifer Lopez.
Back in July, Tyler was asked what he would be up to following Aerosmith's tour, and he seemed to confirm reports of his involvement with the reality show. "Probably going to be a judge on 'American Idol,' " Tyler said. "I'm doing it! What do you think?" While Lopez hasn't commented on the rumors, various outlets have reported that she has already signed a $12 million deal to join the show.
The judges' panel isn't the only thing changing for the show's upcoming season. Last week, it was announced that "Idol" hopefuls could submit online audition videos to MySpace for the first time. The show also dropped its age limit to 15 to make sure it doesn't miss out on a potential Justin Bieber.
